Biography

Erik Rasmussen is a multidisciplinary expert in cybersecurity, risk management, digital forensics, and executive protection. With over 20 years of experience across government and private sectors, Mr. Rasmussen also serves as CEO of Total Executive Security LLC and Global Head of Cybersecurity and Risk Management Solutions at Grobstein Teeple LLP. In these roles, he oversees digital forensics, physical security, incident response, and cyber risk assessments for Fortune 500 companies, law firms, nonprofit organizations, and high-net-worth individuals.

Mr. Rasmussen’s expertise includes serving as a virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO), leading penetration testing and red team operations, performing incident response for major ransomware and business email compromise events, and advising clients on regulatory and litigation matters. He has conducted hundreds of investigations involving payment card fraud, insider threats, and nation-state attacks, and regularly provides forensic support in complex civil and criminal litigation. His court-qualified expert witness experience spans both federal and state jurisdictions, arbitration panels, and regulatory hearings.

His government service includes nearly a decade as a U.S. Secret Service Special Agent, where he led cybercrime investigations and participated in counterterrorism efforts with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. He also held senior cyber risk roles at Visa and Kroll Cyber Security, where he launched a PCI forensic investigation team.

Mr. Rasmussen holds a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law, a Master of Science in Leadership from The Citadel, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Occidental College. He is a licensed attorney in Washington State and certified as a CISSP. His additional credentials include tactical emergency medical training, armed security licensure, and drone safety certification.

He has delivered presentations on cyber risk and forensics at major conferences and law schools and authored articles in legal and cybersecurity publications. Mr. Rasmussen is affiliated with professional groups including the U.S. Secret Service Association, AFCEA, the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT), and the Board of Executive Protection Professionals. His unique blend of legal acumen, technical knowledge, and operational leadership positions him as a trusted advisor in high-stakes security and litigation environments.
